Zomato has increased its platform fee from Rs 7 to Rs 10 during the festive season. For this, the platform has issued a notification. It states that this money is used to pay the company’s bills and to keep the service running during busy times.

For information, let us tell you that Zomato introduced platform fee for the first time in August 2023 for better margins, which was fixed at Rs 2. Over time, the company started increasing it. On December 31, this fee was increased to Rs 9 for some time.

 

Earned crores of rupees

Media reports said that by increasing platform fees, Zomato earned an extra Rs 65 crore annually based on the order volume of 64.7 crore in the last financial year. On October 22, the company reported marginal profit in its Q2. The company added 152 new dark stores of Blinkit during this quarter, taking its total number to 791. This has affected the company’s revenue and the profit margin from Blinkit fell to 3.8%.

If we talk about the second quarter, the company has seen a 69% increase in its revenue year-on-year, which reached about Rs 4,800 crore. It is being said that the reason for this is the company’s takeover of the ticketing business.
