How does a scam happen through QR code?
Many times it happens when people scan a QR code in a hurry without checking it. Fraudsters keep an eye on such people. Fraudsters often get a fake QR code scanned instead of the original one. Once it is scanned, their work begins. The person scanning it feels that he has scanned for payment, but in reality he is scanning the code to install a malware file.
Once the link is scanned, the hacker can install a program in the phone and collect all the necessary information. These can include personal as well as bank account information. If this information is obtained, hackers can empty the bank account in a matter of seconds. A few days ago, a similar scam happened with a policeman in Pune, in which lakhs of rupees were stolen.

Before scanning the QR code, verify the name and other information of the receiver. Do not scan QR codes at suspicious people and places.
Do not hurry while making any digital transaction. Verify every link or platform and then proceed.
Always use official apps for digital transactions. Download them only from trusted stores like Google Play Store and Apple App Stores.
