    Unified Pension Scheme Details: The Maharashtra government has announced the implementation of the Central Government’s Unified Pension Scheme (UPS). The Center had also given the option to the state governments to implement the Unified Pension Scheme. After this, Maharashtra approved it on Sunday. Maharashtra is the first state to implement the Unified Pension Scheme first. At the same time, it is believed that other BJP ruled states will also implement it soon.

    What is Unified Pension Scheme (Unified Pension Scheme Kya hai)

    1. Recently the central government launched the Unified Pension Scheme. It will be implemented on 1 April 2025.

    2. Central employees will now have the option to choose either Unified Pension Scheme or New Pension Scheme for pension.

    3. Under the Unified Pension Scheme, after retirement of a government employee after working for 25 years, 50 percent of his basic salary of the last 12 months will be given as pension. There is a provision of assured pension in this. If a person works for 10 years, then he will be given a pension of at least 10 thousand rupees.

    4. There is also a provision of family pension in this. If the employee dies after retirement, then 60 percent of his pension will be given to the family.

    5. A lump sum amount (apart from gratuity) will also be given on retirement in UPS. It will be calculated as 10th part of the basic salary and dearness allowance for every 6 months of service of the employee.

    6. There is also a provision of increase in pension after retirement in UPS. It has been linked to indexation.

    7. Unified Pension Scheme is only for government employees. More than 23 lakh central government employees will benefit from this. 8. In UPS, like NPS, 10 percent of the salary (basic + DA) will be deducted. However, the government’s contribution in this will be 18.5 percent, which was 14 percent earlier.
