Rana also lost the last legal battle

This was the last legal chance for terrorist Rana not to be extradited to India. Earlier, he had lost the legal battle in several federal courts, including the US Court of Appeals for the Northern Circuit in San Francisco.

On November 13, Rana filed a “petition for certiorari” in the US Supreme Court. The apex court rejected it on January 21, a day after Donald Trump was sworn in as US President.
The Supreme Court said the petition was not admissible. Rana is currently in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.

Tahavvur Rana was also involved in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack

Tahavvur Rana is also guilty of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. The US court has now approved the extradition. The FBI arrested Rana from Chicago in 2009. Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman Tahawwur Rana will now be brought to India soon.

Who is Tahawwur Rana?

Tahavvur Rana is currently lodged in a Los Angeles jail. 63-year-old Rana was an active member of Lashkar-e-Taiba and had helped terrorist David Coleman Headley. Headley is the mastermind of the Mumbai attack. India has been demanding his extradition for a long time. Now the way has been cleared to bring Rana under the India-US extradition treaty.

Born in Pakistan, became a Canadian citizen

Rana was born in Pakistan. But later he became a Canadian citizen. Before going to Canada, Rana worked as a doctor in the Pakistan Army for 10 years. Later he started plotting terror against India.

He has travelled to many countries including Germany, England, Canada. He plotted the Mumbai attack along with David Headley and Lashkar. On 26 November 2008, 10 Pakistani terrorists shook the country’s financial capital Mumbai. A total of 166 people, including six American citizens, lost their lives in the terror attack.
