Former minister Basavaraj Patil Murumkar resigned from the Congress on Monday, a party functionary in Maharashtra claimed. He said that Patil was a minister of state between 1999 and 2004. Earlier he had represented Omerga-Lohara and Ausa assembly seats. He lost to BJP’s Abhimanyu Pawar in the 2019 state elections. While Patil could not be contacted, Congress secretary Abhay Salunkhe said there would be no impact of Patil leaving the party as he was not in touch with the public after losing the Ausa assembly seat in 2019.
Photojournalist shot dead in Nagpur

A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of 54-year-old photojournalist Vinay Poonekar in Nagpur. Poonekar (54) was shot dead at his residence in Raj Nagar on Saturday, a police officer said on Monday. The accused has been identified as Sakshi Grover (35). Whereas, the main accused Hemant Shukla (35), resident of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, is absconding. Here, if we talk about the accused female witness, she is a resident of Madhya Pradesh.

Water supply affected in parts of Mumbai due to fire at Pais pumping station

Water supply has been affected in parts of Mumbai due to a fire at a pumping station in Pise, Thane, 60 km from Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said in a release that the fire broke out on Friday evening. This has affected water supply in some eastern suburbs as well as supply from Golanji, Fosberry, Rawali and Bhandarwada reservoirs. As a result, there will be no water supply in these areas for the next 24 hours. Water supply pressure in western suburbs and other parts of Mumbai may also be affected. The BMC administration has requested citizens to cooperate and use water judiciously during this period.

Protest of Asha workers in Nagpur regarding salary hike, additional benefits

Around 700 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers protested at the official residence of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in Civil Lines in Nagpur on Monday demanding salary hike and additional benefits. A protesting ASHA worker claimed that he was promised a basic salary of Rs 7,000, a monthly increment of Rs 10,000 and an additional Rs 2,000 by the state government, but none of this was fulfilled. Late in the evening, the police shifted the protesters from the Deputy CM’s bungalow to Sanvidhan Square.
A man killed his wife over money dispute in Nagpur district

A man allegedly killed his wife and later attempted suicide in the early hours of Monday following an argument over money matters in a village in Nagpur district. A police officer said the incident took place in Bid Ganeshpur village, about 30 km from Nagpur city. The man, Ranjit Natthu Chaudhary (48), allegedly strangulated his 45-year-old wife to death in her sleep at around 2 am, hours after a heated argument between the couple over money issues, the officer said. After this Chaudhary attempted suicide by cutting his throat. At present, he has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. The police have registered a case of murder against the accused.
