Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP, which is running with the target of 370 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, is busy in expanding its clan. For this, the party can make another party a part of the alliance in Maharashtra, the country’s second most important state politically.
Politically, BJP does not want to leave any stone unturned to improve its performance in Maharashtra, the second most important state of the country. She is working on a plan to include another party in this clan along with Shiv Sena and NCP. This party is Raj Thackeray led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena i.e. MNS. Raj Thackeray met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Tuesday itself. There is a possibility that BJP may include MNS in the NDA clan and give them a seat in the Lok Sabha elections.
Actually, BJP has set a target of 370 seats in this Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In such a situation, it wants to bag as many seats as possible in this second most important state of the country in terms of Lok Sabha seats. There are 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. BJP is already in alliance with Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction). Now she is trying to make the contest in entire Maharashtra one-sided by making MNS also a part of this alliance. In such a situation, let us discuss with you a little about the influence of MNS.
Influence of MNS
Raj Thackeray, once a dynamic leader of Shiv Sena, had left the party after a dispute with cousin Uddhav Thackeray over leadership issues. Then he founded Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in 2004. MNS performed well in the initial elections. In the 2009 assembly, 13 of its MLAs reached the assembly and it was seen becoming a major political force in Maharashtra in the future. But, after this the decline of MNS started due to elections. The party became very weak in the 2014 elections. Then in the 2019 assembly elections, only one of its candidates won. However, 10 of its candidates stood second in their respective constituencies. In many of these seats, its candidates got more than 40 percent votes and were defeated in close contests.
Current situation:
Even though MNS does not have seats in electoral mathematics, Raj Thackeray is a big face in Maharashtra politics. In the absence of large-scale organization and second-tier leaders, the party is not able to do very well electorally. But, experts say that even today he has a good support base. Along with this, he can become a big face to attack the opposition India Alliance in the state, especially cousin Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena . For this reason, BJP is working on a plan to bring him into its fold.
It may get 1 seat in
the Lok Sabha elections. MNS has not been able to make any significant impact in the last few elections. In the last 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Raj Thackeray had campaigned for the Congress-NCP alliance. But they had no candidate in the field. It is expected that BJP will give one seat to MNS from its account in Maharashtra. Media reports have claimed that MNS may be given the prestigious Mumbai South Lok Sabha seat . MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar has been a candidate from this seat in 2009 and 2014 elections. This time also he can be made a candidate.
