Kalyan Railway Station: GRP of Kalyan Railway Station said that after the unclaimed box was found, the dog squad and BDDS team were called who opened the box and explosives were recovered.
Maharashtra News: The passengers present at Kalyan Railway Station in Thane district adjacent to Mumbai were shocked when they got information about the presence of detonators on the platform. It is being told that this detonator was present in two unclaimed boxes lying on the platform on Wednesday. More than 50 detonators were recovered from the box. As soon as the information was received, the Government Railway Police (GRP) team arrived. There was a huge crowd of passengers present when this detonator was found on the platform.
The official said that the GRP found the boxes lying abandoned on platform number one of Kalyan station on the Central Railway (CR) route, after which sniffer dogs and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDDS) personnel were immediately called to the spot. The officer said that this station is usually crowded. On receiving information about the unclaimed boxes, the bomb disposal squad took possession of the boxes and searched them and recovered 54 detonators (a device containing a small amount of explosive material) from inside them.
GRP started investigating the matter
GRP official said that Kalyan GRP has started investigating the matter. However, no case has been registered yet in connection with the seizure. Senior officials including Thane city police visited the spot from where the boxes containing the detonators were recovered.

Detonators are generally used for illegal fishing in lakes of Thane district and for blasting in mines. Kalyan railway station, located on the outskirts of Mumbai city, is a busy railway station serving passengers of long distance as well as suburban trains.
