IPL 2025 MI vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated Mumbai Indians and registered a spectacular victory. This victory of RCB is also historic because it defeated Mumbai Indians at Wankhede after 10 years. Earlier, it had defeated Chennai Super Kings after 17 years, breaking the cycle of Chepauk.

In this way, RCB created history twice in two matches. Tilak Verma and Hardik Pandya fought with all their might for Mumbai. But after both of them were out, hopes were dashed for them. Mumbai needed 19 runs in the last over. But Krunal Pandya stopped his younger brother’s team 12 runs before with his brilliant bowling.

RCB, batting first, scored 221 runs for five wickets and then stopped Mumbai Indians at 209 for nine wickets. For Mumbai, Tilak Verma scored 56 runs in 29 balls while Hardik Pandya scored 42 runs in 15 balls. For RCB, Krunal Pandya took four wickets while Yash Dayal and Josh Hazlewood took two wickets each.

Pandya-Tilak’s havoc

With Hardik Pandya (42 runs 15 balls) and Tilak Verma (56) at the crease, the match seemed to be going in Mumbai’s favour. In the 18th over, Tilak got caught in deep cover while trying to cut Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s slow delivery outside the off stump. In the very next over, Pandya was caught by Josh Hazlewood. After both were out, the match once again went in Bangalore’s favour. In reply to RCB’s 222 runs, Mumbai Indians could only score 209 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

Mumbai’s start in chasing the target was average. After Surya Kumar Yadav (28) was out in the 12th over, Pandya started raining fours and sixes as soon as he came to the crease. He filled the match with excitement by hitting two fours and two sixes in Hazelwood’s over. While in the next over, he did not spare his brother Krunal Pandya and thrashed him too. On the other end, Tilak Verma also kept wreaking havoc on the Bangalore bowlers and both of them made a partnership of 89 runs.

Kohli was seen in form

Earlier, thanks to explosive partnerships of 91 runs between Virat Kohli (67) and Devdutt Padikkal (37) and 69 runs between captain Rajat Patidar (62) – Jitesh Sharma (40 not out), RCB scored 221 runs for five wickets against Mumbai Indians. Kohli was in aggressive mode from the start of the match today. Despite the wicket of Phil Salt (4) falling in the first over, he took full advantage of the power play and scored runs all around the field. Sensing Kohli’s attitude, captain Hardik Pandya removed Trent Boult and handed the ball to spinner Will Jacks, but it had no effect on Kohli. Both the batsmen took the score to 95 runs by the ninth over. Meanwhile, Padikkal lost his wicket to Vignesh Puthur.

Captain Patidar also supported

New batsman Patidar along with Kohli continued to thrash Mumbai bowlers. Meanwhile Kohli completed his half century. In the 15th over of the innings, Kohli tried to play Hardik Pandya’s ball outside the off stump and gave an easy catch to Naman Dheer standing at deep backward square leg. During his half century innings, Kohli hit eight fours and two sixes in 42 balls. Kohli also completed his 13 thousand runs in T20 cricket career in this match.
