Gunaratna Sadavarte vs Manoj Jarange: Gunaratna Sadavarte has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court demanding that Manoj Jarange and his supporters should not be allowed to come to Mumbai.
Mumbai: Following the petition of lawyer Gunaratna Sadavarte, Mumbai High Court has issued a notice to Maratha reservation supporter Manoj Jarange Patil. On the other hand, the court has adjourned Sadavarte’s petition for two weeks. Gunaratna Sadavarten has filed a petition in the High Court against Manoj Jarange’s protest in Mumbai (Maratha Reservation Mumbai). An urgent hearing on this petition took place today before the bench of Justice Ajay Gadkari and Justice Shyam Chandak.
Gunaratna Sadavarte has demanded in his petition that Manoj Jarange and his supporters should not be allowed to protest in Mumbai.
On behalf of the state government, the Advocate General has assured the Bombay High Court that it is ready to take appropriate legal action regarding Manoj Jarang’s movement in Mumbai.
Court notice to Manoj Jarang
The High Court said that it is the responsibility of the state government that life here will not be disrupted due to the Maratha movement in Mumbai. Apart from this, the court also said that if thousands of bullock carts, tractors and lakhs of people come to the city then it is the responsibility of the state government to do what. Apart from this, the court has issued a notice to Manoj Jarang and ordered him to present his statement. After this, the court postponed the hearing on Sadavarten’s petition for two weeks. Meanwhile, Sadavarta was allowed to come to the High Court again if needed.
Gunaratna Sadavarten’s argument
“Manoj Jarange’s route to Mumbai had to be closed at that time. People in Pune have suffered a lot due to this movement. Schools, colleges, shops had to be closed. Within a few hours, Jarange will reach Thane with his convoy. If thousands of People in large numbers, bullock carts and tractors come to the city, what will happen to the traffic? It will be the state”, Gunaratna Sadavarte argued in the High Court.
The state government is ready to take appropriate steps
Advocate General Dr. Birendra Saraf was present. We have not yet received any letter from Manoj Jarange or any of his people seeking permission for the protest. It is true that thousands of people are coming towards Mumbai. Everyone is allowed to protest in the state. But they have not been given any permission. It is the responsibility of the state government to maintain law and order. The Advocate General said, we are ready to take all appropriate steps for this, but it is the responsibility of the administration to protect the rights of everyone.
If we take any step and it has an adverse effect, then whose responsibility is it?, this is also a question, Advocate General Dr. on behalf of the state government. Birendra Saraf introduced the role. What orders do you need from the High Court to maintain law and order? He asked.
