UP Government Toll Tax Free: The statement of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has come on the news of waiving the toll tax for the entire 45 days for the (Maha Kumbh 2025) to be held in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. NHAI has clarified that no such proposal is under consideration. Let us tell you that yesterday there were reports that the Yogi government has announced to make 7 toll plazas going towards Prayagraj free and NHAI has started work in this direction.

No such proposal
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has clarified on its official X handle that no such proposal is under consideration at the moment. NHAI has written that there is news in the media that vehicles going to Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh will be exempted from toll tax on national highways, but we want to clarify that no such proposal is under consideration. That is, NHAI has termed such reports as false.

What is in the news?

It has been told in many media reports that the Yogi Adityanath government has decided to make 7 toll plazas of the state free during the Maha Kumbh. These toll booths are in different districts, through which thousands of vehicles pass daily. After this decision of the government, vehicles passing through the respective routes will not have to pay any fee for 45 days. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started preparations to implement it.

Mention of these 7 plazas

It was told in the reports that the highways on which toll exemption will be available include Handia Toll Plaza on Varanasi Road, Andhiyari Toll Plaza on Lucknow Highway, Umapur Toll Plaza on Chitrakoot Road, Ganne Toll Plaza on Rewa Highway, Mungeri Toll Plaza on Mirzapur Road, Mauaima Toll Plaza on Ayodhya Highway and Kokhraj Toll on Kanpur Road. These reports cited NHAI and said that only private vehicles would be exempted from toll. However, now NHAI has given everything clear. At present no such proposal is being considered.
