New Android features have been announced by tech company Google at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 tech event. These features will soon be included in eligible devices, the list of which includes not only smartphones but also Smart TV, Smart Home accessories and EVs. Google has rebranded the existing Nearby Share feature in partnership with Samsung. You can see the list of new Android features below.
Nearby Share becomes Quick Share
To share large files in Android smartphones, till now users have been taking the help of Nearby Share feature, which will now be known as Quick Share. The company has partnered with Samsung for this rebranding. Laptops and Windows PC models can also be connected to Android devices with Quick Share. Quick Share with the updated logo will begin rolling out next month.
Fast Pair support in Smart TVs
Smart TVs based on Android or Google TV operating system will now support fast pairing. In this way, users will be able to easily connect their truly wireless earbuds to the display with Google TV OS. As soon as compatible earbuds or headphones are turned on, a big pop-up will appear on the screen and these devices can be connected with a single click.
Improved screen casting capabilities
In select markets, users are being given the option to watch live short videos from Android smartphones on smart TVs with a single click. Apart from this, the option of better screen casting has started becoming available in Google TV of brands like LG, HiSense and TCL. This feature will soon be available in TV models coming with built-in Chromecast.
New options in Android Auto
Apart from TV models running Google TV OS, Android devices can also be connected to Android Auto. In this way, users will get an easy option to access multimedia content other than Google Maps in their car. The list of new features includes real-time battery information for EVs, information like expected battery level, nearest charging points and charging time.
