GBS (Guillain Barre Syndrome) has started spreading in many districts of the state. Due to this, the number of suspected patients and deaths is increasing every day in the districts of the state. Till now, the deaths of GBS affected patients were limited to two districts namely Pune and Mumbai.

Now deaths due to GBS are happening in many other districts as well. Due to this, an atmosphere of fear has spread among the citizens.

GBS has entered many districts including Pune, Mumbai, Sangli, Kolhapur, Palghar. The number of patients in these districts is gradually increasing. Along with this, the number of deaths due to GBS is also increasing. Now, two patients affected by GBS have died in the government hospital in Miraj, Sangli district. One of the deceased patients was from Solapur. Therefore, these two districts are now the places where GBS patients are dying after Pune and Mumbai.

Two patients infected with GBS have died at a government hospital in Miraj. One of the patients was a 14-year-old boy who had come to Sangli for treatment from Hukkeri in Karnataka. The other patient was a 60-year-old woman who had come from Sangola district of Solapur.

A 14-year-old boy from Hukkeri in Karnataka was infected with ‘GBS’. The boy was admitted to Miraj Government Hospital on January 31. Due to this, he was treated for about two weeks. But he died while undergoing treatment in the hospital. The second patient, a woman, was admitted to the government hospital on Thursday afternoon. This woman was a resident of Sangola in Solapur district. She died at midnight.

In the last 15 days, 15 patients from the district and outside the district were treated at the government hospital in Miraj. Out of them, 6 patients have recovered and have been discharged from the hospital. Currently, 7 patients are being treated at the hospital. One patient has gone to Pune and one to Karad for treatment. Among the 15 patients, 3 patients are from Sangli city. ‘GBS’ patients were found in Chintamani Nagar, Vishrambag and Sanjaynagar in the city. Also, citizens should not panic. Patients are recovering completely after treatment, so if they show symptoms, they should seek immediate treatment, said Miraj Government Hospital Dean Dr. Prakash Gurav.

Meanwhile, the number of suspected GBS patients in Maharashtra has now reached 207, state health officials said on Friday. Of these patients, 180 have been infected with GBS. Out of which 20 patients are on ventilators. While the death toll is eight, one suspicious death related to GBS has been reported in Solapur.
