This festive season (Festive Season 2024), Indian Railways has earned Rs 12,159.35 crore. This income has been earned through ticket sales in railways. Indian Railways has earned this income between 1 September 2024 and 31 October 2024 this year. This information was given by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in Parliament.

There were many types of festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra and Diwali in these two months. At this time many people go to their home or somewhere to celebrate the festival. In such a situation, many people of India prefer Indian Railways to travel during the festive season.

Ashwini Vaishnav released data

Ashwini Vaishnav released zone-wise data in the Lok Sabha. In this data, he told how much revenue the Indian Railways got from ticket sales. He gave this information in response to a question raised in the Lok Sabha. According to the information given by the Railway Minister, around 143.71 crore passengers have travelled from 1 September to 10 November.

The maximum number of passengers were in the Central Zone. The number of passengers here was about 31.63 crores. Whereas, the number of passengers in the Western Zone was 26.13 crores and in the Eastern Zone was 24.67 crores. The lowest number of passengers was seen in the South-Eastern Zone. Only 1.48 crore passengers travelled here.

7,000 special trains ran

According to the information given by news agency IANS, 7,663 additional special trains were run this festive season. These trains were 73 percent more than last year’s festive season. 4,429 special trains were run in the year 2023. This year 957.24 lakh passengers have traveled between Diwali and Chhath festival. Last year in 2023, the number of passengers during this period was 33.91 lakh.

On November 4, 2024, 1.2 crore passengers used the railway service. Of these, 19.43 lakh were reserved and 1.01 crore passengers were unreserved. According to the statement issued by the Indian Railways, 207 special trains ran on November 3. At the same time, 203 special trains ran on November 4. These trains were run in addition to the current special trains.
