Delhi Traffic Challan : New rules for Traffic Challan will provide great relief, Delhi's Transport Minister posted

Delhi Traffic Challan: Those who violate traffic rules are hit by challans. Challan cases go on for a long time. People delay paying their challans. But now a new rule will be implemented in Delhi, in which 50 percent discount will be given on the challan.

Delhi Traffic Challan: The Transport Department had sent a proposal to the Delhi Government. It demanded that up to 50 percent discount be given on payment of challan on the spot in cases of violation. Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot considered this proposal. From now on, up to 50 percent discount will be given on payment of challan amount on the spot for traffic offenders.

How will the challan be halved?
The Delhi government has decided to give a discount on challans to provide relief to the public. Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot gave this information. He wrote in a post on Instagram that ‘For the convenience of Delhiites and to settle traffic fines, the Delhi government has decided to reduce the challan amount by 50% under specific sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.’

He said that a proposal has been sent to the Lieutenant Governor for approval. In cases where the challan amount is paid within 90 days of challan, it will be paid. Along with this, if the challan amount is paid within 30 days for the challans issued after the notification of this rule, the fine will be halved. Giving credit to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he further wrote that ‘Under the able leadership of the Chief Minister, the Delhi Government is dedicated to making the life of Delhiites easy and comfortable.’

In what situation will this rule apply?
According to the statement, these offences include allowing any person to drive the vehicle by the owner of the vehicle, driving without a valid licence, dangerous driving, driving while being mentally or physically unfit to drive, speeding etc. This provision is aimed at motivating citizens to pay their traffic fines promptly.

The provision of decriminalizing traffic offenses will ensure convenience for commuters by encouraging them to settle traffic fines. This will reduce the workload on courts and the transport department.

New police officers deployed
This new rule has been introduced to avoid the long legal process of challan. For this, the Delhi government has deployed head constables of Delhi Traffic Police and Transport Department. Apart from this, officers of higher ranks as well as assistant traffic inspectors of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) have also been deployed to reduce cases of traffic violations.
