What is the number of AICPI index?
Let us tell you that the AICPI data decides how much the dearness allowance will increase. On the basis of the data of total 6 months between January to June 2024, it has been decided that from July 2024, there will be a 3% increase in the dearness allowance of employees and pensioners.
Let me tell you that under the 7th Pay Commission, central employees and pensioners are getting 50 percent dearness allowance. In January, the number of AICPI index was at 138.9 points, due to which the dearness allowance increased to 50.84 percent. After this, the AICPI index stood at 139.2 points in February, 138.9 points in March, 139.4 points in April and 139.9 points in May. On this basis, dearness allowance had reached 52.91 percent. The wait was only for the AICPI data for the month of June, finally this data was released late last evening.
Dearness allowance increased by 3 percent
The AICPI data for June was released late last evening, in which there was an increase of 1.5 points and the total figure reached 141.4. According to this, the total dearness allowance is 53.36 but the figure after the decimal is not counted, so from July 2024 there will be 53% dearness allowance.
When will it be announced?
The next revision in the dearness allowance (DA Hike) of employees will be applicable from July 1 itself. But, it will be announced by September or October. The Labor Bureau will submit its data to the Finance Ministry and on the recommendation of the Finance Ministry, it will be approved by the Cabinet. Usually, the dearness allowance to be implemented from July is announced at the end of September or the beginning of October. In case of announcement in September, the employees will get the arrears of July and August and it will be paid in the salary of the same month.
Dearness allowance will not be zero
The dearness allowance of the employees will not be zero i.e. zero (0). The calculation of dearness allowance will continue as it is going on.
