A massive fire has broken out at a furniture godown in Rahanal Gram Panchayat in Bhiwandi. Seven to eight godowns have been burnt and efforts are being made by the fire brigade to douse the flames. There is an atmosphere of fear in the area.
Naresh Patil, Representative Bhiwandi: A sudden massive fire broke out at a furniture godown located in Swagat Compound within the Rahanal Gram Panchayat limits of Bhiwandi taluka.
The nature of the fire is so terrible that seven to eight warehouses have been destroyed by the fire. Residents in the surrounding buildings are also being evacuated, and a portion of the warehouse has begun to collapse.
Four fire engines of Thane Kalyan Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation have reached the spot and the fire brigade is making desperate efforts to bring the fire under control.
The smoke from the fire is visible from 8 to 10 kilometers away. The fire is so fierce that an atmosphere of fear has spread in the area.
According to the information received, there was a large stock of plywood foam boards here. Due to this, the fire flared up more, the entire building was engulfed in flames and the fire also spread to the surrounding shops.
A firefighter was injured while extinguishing the fire and is being treated at a private hospital. There is a shortage of water to extinguish the fire.
