Bad news: 10 million people on the verge of starvation in Pakistan, shocking report comes amid tension

World Bank Report On Pakistan: The World Bank has said in its report that Shahbaz Sharif’s government has failed to meet its target of annual budget deficit and this is expected to increase Pakistan’s debt burden in comparison to GDP.

World Bank Report On Pakistan: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, bad news is coming out for the neighboring country Pakistan on every front. On one hand, while the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has estimated Pakistan’s growth rate to be low, on the other hand, the World Bank has given a big warning to Pakistan. The World Bank warned that in the current financial year, about one crore people will face the crisis of starvation. Along with this, the level of poverty will also increase rapidly.

Before the warning of increasing poverty in Pakistan, the World Bank had estimated the economic growth of Pakistan to be 2.7 percent in its report. The World Bank has held the strict economic policies in Pakistan responsible for this.

1 crore people on the verge of starvation

According to the news of Express Tribune, the World Bank has said in its report that Shahbaz Sharif’s government has also failed to meet its target of annual fiscal deficit and due to this, Pakistan’s debt burden is expected to increase further as compared to GDP.

According to the report, the World Bank said that the entire agricultural production of Pakistan will be affected due to the weather and major crops like rice, millet crops will be badly affected. It further said that about 1 crore people in Pakistan (mostly in rural areas) will reach the brink of starvation.

Poverty will increase further in Pakistan

It is worth noting here that the World Bank report has again focused on those issues, which are usually not discussed in the meeting of officials. These issues are – shortage of grains, poverty, unemployment and decline in daily wages. The report said that major sectors like agriculture, manufacturing and other low-wage services will be negatively affected, due to which daily wages will also not be able to increase.

The World Bank issued another warning for Pakistan, saying that about two percent of its population i.e. 19 lakh people will go below the poverty line in the current financial year. Furthermore, Pakistan’s employment-to-population ratio is 49.7%, which highlights the low labour market participation rate, particularly among youth and women.”
