UAN Activation: Now EPFO has launched a new method of Aadhaar’s face authentication to generate and activate UAN. This means that now the process of generating and activating your UAN has become even easier. You can avail this service through UMANG app, and avail all the services of EPFO like viewing passbook, updating KYC and submitting claims. But the question is how will all this happen? Why was there a problem in activating UAN earlier?
So far there were many problems in activating UAN. Sometimes the correct information was not available, sometimes there was a problem with OTP, and sometimes there was a mistake in Aadhaar data. Many times the UAN did not reach the employee, and even in the one that reached, the mobile number was wrong or missing.
Now this process has been made so simple that without any paperwork, just a smartphone in the fist and a few clicks, and your UAN will be activated. The figures also show the same thing—in 2024-25, out of 1.26 crore UANs, only 44.68 lakh were activated. That is, only 30% UANs were working. Now with this new technology, it is expected that this figure will increase rapidly.
How to activate UAN with UMANG app?
Now how will all this happen? Through the UMANG app. Yes, the same UMANG app that the Government of India has created for the citizens, where all government services are available on a single platform. Now, for UAN activation you just need to follow some simple steps.
Download UMANG app: First download UMANG app from Playstore.
Download AadhaarFaceRD app: Then download AadhaarFaceRD app as well.
Go to UAN services: Open UMANG app and go to “UAN Allotment and Activation”.
Enter Aadhaar and mobile number: Enter Aadhaar number and mobile number linked to that number.
Enter OTP: After entering OTP, tick the checkbox to give consent.
Take face recognition: Take a live photo of yourself with the camera—and as soon as the green outline appears, your photo will be captured.
UAN will be activated: Now your UAN will be activated after matching with the Aadhaar database and will be sent to your registered number via SMS. You can also download it from UMANG app or EPFO portal.
That’s it, now you don’t need to take help from anyone. You can generate and activate UAN yourself without the help of the employer.
