Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s signature pose of standing with his arms outstretched is famous not only in India but all over the world. But do you know that the King of Bollywood did that pose for the first time not after thinking but out of compulsion. Not only this, this pose was given to Shah Rukh Khan by famous dance choreographer Saroj Khan. King Khan told the story behind this pose at the Locarno Film Festival. Shah Rukh told that he was given this pose when he was not able to do some dance steps properly.
Shahrukh was not able to do the dance step
In Shahrukh Khan’s 1990 film, he was given some dance moves to do which he was not able to do properly. Narrating the story of his iconic pose, Badshah Khan said, “I was not able to do that dance step and was feeling very embarrassed. I practiced all night so that I could do that dance step properly. In the morning when I came to the set and the choreographer, who I remember was Saroj ji. I said – Ma’am ready? So she said – yes, so you are not able to do that, so just stand there and spread your arms.”
The second time SRK used his brain a little
Shahrukh Khan told that he told Sooraj Khan that he would do that dance step but the choreographer said – no no, we don’t need that. It doesn’t look good on you. She remained adamant on her point, so then I just stood there with my arms spread. Shahrukh Khan told that another time when he was shooting, the steps were difficult. I asked the choreographer if we could remove it? I would just stand with my arms outstretched. Shah Rukh Khan got permission to do so.
