ANI, Mumbai. Rains continue to wreak havoc across Maharashtra including Pune, Thane, Mumbai. Many parts of Mumbai recorded rainfall above 150 mm on Thursday.
The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar and a red alert for Raigad (Raigad Rain Today) for Friday, but according to experts, the intensity of rain will reduce from Friday afternoon and there will be relief from heavy rain.
According to BMC data, from 4 am to 3 pm on Thursday, Andheri (East) recorded 161.6 mm, Powai 159.2 mm, Santacruz 158.2 mm, Kandivali Charkop 158 mm, Dindoshi 157.2 mm, Ghatkopar 157 mm, Ghatkopar 149 mm of rain. Apart from this, 100 to 140 mm of rain was recorded in many areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, an off-shore trough was formed from South Gujarat to the coast of Kerala. Apart from this, the western wind coming from the Arabian Sea became strong, due to these two systems, there was heavy rain in MMR. Regional Meteorological Department Director Sunil Kamble said that there is an orange alert for Friday, but the intensity of rain is expected to decrease. We are keeping an eye.
Moderate rain at many places including Palghar, Mumbai
At the same time, according to the latest update of IMD, moderate rain is likely at isolated places over Palghar, Raigad, Thane, Ratnagiri, Mumbai (Mumbai Rain) and ghat areas of Pune and Satara during the next 3-4 hours.
Schools and colleges to open in Mumbai today- BMC
The BMC said that the weather and rain in Mumbai are normal at the moment, due to which life is running smoothly in the metropolis.

Heavy rain warning in Raigad
Meanwhile, the Raigad administration has ordered to keep schools and colleges in the district closed on Friday in view of the heavy rain warning.
The IMD has issued an Orange Alert for Mumbai for July 26 and a Yellow Alert for July 27.
Due to continuous rains in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde took stock of the situation in the state on Thursday.
The CM called the Raigad Collector and asked him to help the flood-affected people and assured them of all possible help.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a press release saying, extremely heavy rainfall is likely in the Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during July 25-27 and in Konkan and Goa on July 25 and 26 and in Gujarat region on July 25.
The IMD has issued a red alert for Raigad district for July 26 and an orange alert for July 27.
The Meteorological Department has also issued a red alert for Ratnagiri and Satara for July 26.
Heavy rain in Delhi too
After Mumbai, Delhi (Delhi Rain) also received heavy rains late at night and in the morning. Due to this rain, the traffic of Delhi is also looking like Mumbai. The roads are flooded and vehicles are crawling.
According to the IMD, there is an orange alert of heavy to very heavy rain in some parts of Delhi. Heavy to very heavy rains of 2-5 cm/hr are expected in parts of north and northeast Delhi till 8 am.
The IMD has advised to avoid going to areas where waterlogging is a frequent problem. Also avoid staying in areas with weak structures during this time.
The Meteorological Department says that local roads may be flooded, waterlogging in low-lying areas and underpasses may be closed. Apart from this, visibility may also be reduced due to heavy rains.
Mumbai Police issued advisory for people
The Mumbai Police on Thursday issued an advisory asking residents not to leave their homes on Friday unless it is very important. It cited the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast of a “red alert” by 8.30 am. However, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation announced that all schools and colleges in its area will operate normally on Friday.
The IMD has reportedly issued a red alert for the morning of July 26, predicting heavy rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. The alert comes at a time when heavy rains in the city are likely to cause traffic jams, waterlogging and disruptions in public travel today as well.
