Mumbai Local: Important news for Mumbaikars. A special 2-day block will be held on Western Railway and 277 trains have been cancelled.

Local services are known as the lifeline of Mumbaikars. Now this lifeline will have a 2-day break. A mega block will be taken on the Western Railway route on January 24 and 25. Due to this, as many as 277 local trains have been cancelled and the schedule of some trains has been changed. The Railways has informed that this special block will be taken on Friday and Saturday for the reconstruction of the bridge between Mahim and Bandra stations. Due to this, Mumbaikars are likely to be delayed and proper travel planning will have to be done.

During this special block in Mumbai, major changes have been made in the local and mail express traffic. On Friday, 127 local trains will be completely cancelled, while 60 local trains will be partially cancelled. On Saturday, 150 local trains will be completely cancelled, while 90 local trains will be partially cancelled. On January 24, the last Churchgate-Virar slow local train will leave at 11.58 pm. Passengers will be inconvenienced due to the cancellation of local trains.

Meanwhile, the Shavet bridge on Indian Railways, built on ‘screw piling’, is on the Mithi river between Bandra and Mahim. The railways has taken up the work of strengthening this bridge. For this work, a special night block will be taken on 24 and 25 January. A block will be taken on the Up and Down slow line between Mahim and Bandra stations from 11 pm on Friday to 8.30 am on Saturday. While there will be a block on the Down fast line from 12.30 pm to 6.30 am. Similarly, on 25 and 26 January, a block will be started on the Up and Down slow and Down fast lines from 11 pm to 8.30 am on Sunday. The block on the fast line will start from 11 pm on Saturday and will remain blocked till 7.30 am on Sunday.

First Block (Friday) Schedule

The last Churchgate-Virar slow local will leave on January 24 at 11.58 pm. All slow local trains leaving Churchgate from 11 pm will run on the fast route between Mumbai Central and Santacruz. During this time, the local train will not stop at Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Matunga Road, Mahim and Khar Road stations. The first Churchgate local train will leave Virar station at 5.47 am on Saturday morning after the block. The first down fast local train will leave Churchgate station at 6.14 pm on Saturday morning. The first down slow local train will leave Churchgate station at 8.03 am on Saturday morning.

Second Block (Saturday) Schedule

During the block period on Saturday night, fast local trains will run between Churchgate and Dadar. On Saturday morning, Virar, Nalasopara, Vasai Road, Bhayander, Borivali slow and fast local trains will run up to Andheri. The last local train on the up fast line will leave Virar from Churchgate at 10.08 pm. On the down fast line, the last local train on the down fast line will leave Churchgate from Borivali at 10.33 pm. On Sunday morning after the block, the first Churchgate-Virar local train on the down fast line will leave at 8.35 am. On the fast line, the first Virar-Churchgate local train will leave at 7.38 am.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Central-Hapa-Mumbai Central Duronto Express, Mumbai Central-Indore-Mumbai Central Duronto Express have been cancelled. Some trains have been short-termed and the timings of some express trains have also been changed. Therefore, Mumbaikars will have to plan by looking at the timetable.
