Delhi Metro Travel Rules Update: Till now there was a ban on carrying liquor bottles in Delhi Metro, which has now been relaxed.
Metro Liquor Rules: A good news has come out for the liquor lovers in Delhi. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has now allowed carrying liquor bottles inside the metro train. DMRC has said that passengers will now be able to travel with two bottles of liquor. However, both these bottles should be completely sealed.
DMRC has taken this decision after a meeting with CISF officials. Let us tell you that the security of metro stations is being handled by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), so this decision has been taken only after getting its green signal. Till now, there was exemption only on the Airport Express Line
Till now, there was a ban on any passenger carrying a bottle of liquor with him in Delhi Metro. However, this ban was not applicable on the Airport Express Line, where air travelers used to travel after bringing liquor from the duty free shop of the airport. DMRC said in its statement on Friday that now Delhi Metro has also implemented the rules of the Airport Express Line. This decision has been taken after a joint meeting of CISF and DMRC officials.
Permission to carry sealed bottles, action will be taken if consumed
DMRC has also clarified that only sealed bottles of alcohol are allowed inside the metro premises. Any passenger can carry two sealed alcohol bottles with him, but drinking them inside the metro premises will not be allowed. DMRC has warned that all passengers should maintain adequate dignity during the journey. If any passenger is seen doing any objectionable act under the influence of alcohol, action will be taken against him as per the law.
