MARD Doctors Strike: 8000 resident doctors of Maharashtra will go on strike today, know the reason

Maharashtra Resident Doctors Protest: MARD President said that about 8000 resident doctors will go on indefinite strike. Emergency services will continue during this period.

MARD Doctors Strike: Resident doctors of Maharashtra have announced to go on indefinite strike from 5 pm on Thursday. MARD President Dr. Abhijeet Helge has given this information. He said that during this period, emergency services will remain operational to ensure necessary medical care to the people. He said that around 8000 resident doctors across the state will be on strike demanding better hostel accommodation, increase in stipend and payment of dues.

Resident doctors have written a letter to the state health minister. It said, “We are extremely disappointed with the lack of seriousness on the part of Central MARD, the representative body of resident doctors across the state, in fulfilling the promises made to the resident doctors of the state of Maharashtra.”

It further reads, “Despite the assurance that our demands will be met within two days, it seems that even after two weeks, no progress has been made. We had expressed confidence in the government’s words and had called for our strike several times earlier also. The benefit of doubt was always given to the authority and we entrusted them with the responsibility to do the right thing in time to ensure the welfare of the resident doctors.”

It was also written in the letter sent to the Health Minister that despite our many pleas, it seems that our concerns have been ignored. Hurt by the brutal treatment towards the legitimate demands of the resident doctors, we have decided that there is no option left but to go on an indefinite strike in Maharashtra.
