Maharashtra News: In the cabinet meeting chaired by Eknath Shinde, the government decided to increase the salary of madrasa teachers and increase the working capital of Maulana Azad Financial Corporation.

Maharashtra News: The BJP-led Mahayuti government in Maharashtra has taken several steps to woo the Muslim minority and backward communities just ahead of the assembly elections next month. Apart from this, the state government decided that the central government will be asked to increase the qualifying income limit for ‘non-creamy layer’ from the current Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15 lakh per annum.

Non-creamy layer certificate is required to get reservation benefits in the OBC category. In a cabinet meeting chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the government decided to increase the salary of madrasa teachers and increase the working capital of Maulana Azad Financial Corporation.

What decisions were taken

The monthly salary of primary teachers with D.Ed degree will increase almost three times from the current Rs 6,000 to Rs 16,000, while the monthly salary of secondary school teachers with B.Ed degree will increase from Rs 8,000 to Rs 18,000.

Under the Zakir Hussain Madrasa Modernisation Scheme, the state government has asked madrasas to provide modern education along with religious studies. It is proposed to teach science, mathematics, sociology, English, Marathi, Hindi and Urdu in madrasas.

A proposal to increase the working capital of Maulana Azad Financial Corporation from Rs 600 crore to Rs 1,000 crore was introduced by the state minority department. This money will be used to give loans to people of the minority community for various purposes.

The Eknath Shinde-led cabinet also passed a proposal to set up welfare cooperative boards for several communities and increased the investment capital for tribal welfare boards.

The state government announced setting up of cooperative boards for Shimpi, Gawali, Lad Shakia-Vani, Lohar and Nam Panth community boards. Each cooperative board will be given Rs 50 crore as investment capital to carry out various social and community activities.

The cabinet meeting also approved a draft ordinance to give constitutional status to the Maharashtra State Scheduled Caste Commission. The ordinance will be introduced in the next session of the legislature; 27 posts were also approved for the commission.
