A complaint has been filed against Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgan and Tiger Shroff in Kota regarding the paan masala advertisement. Social activist Inder Mohan Singh alleged that these advertisements are misleading the youth.
Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgan and Tiger Shroff have had to pay heavily for advertising paan masala. Recently, a social worker in Kota, Rajasthan has filed a complaint against these three actors in the Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission.
The complaint states that these actors are misleading the youth by promoting paan masala containing saffron. On this, the commission has issued a notice not only to these Bollywood stars but also to the company manufacturing this product and sought a reply by April 21.
What is the whole matter?
Complainant Inder Mohan Singh Hani, who is a social worker, has claimed that the paan masala advertisements being done by Bollywood stars are deceiving the youth. He said in his petition that the youth consider these actors as their idol and when these stars promote a product, it affects millions of people.
It is also written in the complaint that it is written on the packaging of the paan masala being advertised that it contains saffron. But in reality, saffron was not found in it, whereas real saffron is sold in the market at the rate of about Rs 4 lakh per kilogram.
Is the claim of paan masala containing saffron false?
Complainant’s lawyer Vivek Nandwana said that the claim of saffron being present in the product (Vimal Pan Masala) which is being advertised is false.
- This product is sold for just 5 rupees, which raises doubts whether it may contain expensive saffron or not.
- Apart from this, the warning written on the product is in such small letters that it is very difficult to read, due to which consumers do not get the correct information.
- The complainant has demanded an immediate ban on these misleading advertisements and a fine on the company and stars if found guilty.
What could be the punishment?
The petitioner has also requested that the fine imposed on these stars and the company be deposited in the Youth Welfare Fund of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
Consumer Court Chairman Anurag Gautam and member Virendra Singh Rawat have asked Shahrukh Khan, Ajay Devgan, Tiger Shroff and the company making Vimal Pan Masala to appear in court on 21 February 2025.
These stars have been caught in the court before
This is not the first time that Bollywood stars have been caught in controversies for advertising pan masala or other harmful products.
Ajay Devgan, Shahrukh Khan and Akshay Kumar appeared together in the advertisement of Vimal Cardamom, which caused a lot of controversy.
Later, Akshay Kumar distanced himself from his advertisement after criticism, but Ajay and Shahrukh continued to promote it. Now, Tiger Shroff is also caught in this controversy.
