Kesari Chapter 2 Movie Review: Akshay Kumar, Regina Cassandra, R Madhavan and Ananya Pandey starrer film ‘Kesari Chapter 2’ has been released in theaters today. This historical courtroom drama full of emotion and passion will shake you from within.

The 2019 film ‘Kesari’ was based on the Battle of Saragarhi, which took place in 1897 between 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army and 10,000 Afridi and Orakzai Pashtun tribesmen. In that film, Akshay Kumar dominated the box office in the role of a Sikh soldier. ‘Kesari’ crossed the total mark of 200 crores at the worldwide box office. Now 6 years later, ‘Kesari 2’,

released in theaters today (18 April 2025), has gone 2 steps ahead of its first part. This time in the film, Akshay Kumar is playing the role of ‘C. Shankaran Nair’, who was an Indian lawyer who fought a case in court against General O’ Dyer after the ‘Jallianwala Bagh massacre’. This time the film also stars Regina Cassandra, R Madhavan and Ananya Pandey along with Akshay. So let’s tell you how is the film ‘Kesari 2’?

Story:

The story begins with the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar, where more than 10,000 innocent people are shown being shot dead by the British. Then this massacre is suppressed. All the newspapers in the press are burnt. It is shown in the film that earlier C. Shankaran Nair advocates on behalf of the British, but after this incident he stands against the British Empire.

He fights a case against General O’ Dyer in the court, in which law student Dilreet Gill supports him and this is her first case. This film has done the work of bringing out the truth of ‘Khooni Baisakhi’. Does Shankaran Nair win in this historical courtroom drama? Is General O’ Dyer proven guilty? To know the answers to these questions, you will have to go to the cinema and watch the entire film.

Acting:
Akshay Kumar has proved that acting has no age. He has played the character of ‘C Shankaran Nair’ in a very brilliant way, which is really commendable. Ananya Pandey has also brought life to her character. After this film, the chances of Ananya’s career getting a boost have increased. R Madhavan has played the character of ‘Advocate Neville McKinley’ in the film, who was fighting the case in court on behalf of General O’Dyer.

Madhavan has played this character very well in his own style. Apart from these, you will see South actress Regina Cassandra in the role of ‘C Shankaran Nair’s wife, who was also seen in a strong role in Sunny Deol’s film ‘Jaat’ released last week. Even though her screen space is small in this film, everyone will like to see her on screen.

Direction:

‘Kesari’ was directed by Anurag Singh, while ‘Kesari 2’ has been directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. When you sit to watch the film, not a single scene will look artificial. He has paid attention to every single thing. From the set to the costumes, it will take you 106 years back. There are some scenes in the film that will make your eyes moist.

Music:
This time the responsibility of music in ‘Kesari 2’ was given to Shashwat Sachdev and he succeeded in retaining the music of ‘Kesari’ in this as well. The background score of this film is its soul. At the same time, the songs that you will get to hear in the voice of Manmohan Waris, Kamal Heer, accompanist, Shashwat Sachdev and Shanya Kashyap will give you goosebumps.

Disadvantages:
The biggest drawback of the film is its pace. From the first half to the second half, the pace of the film is quite slow, due to which you may feel a little bored, but by the time it reaches the climax, its pace increases and the film becomes quite interesting to watch. Apart from this, some more songs could have been added to the film. This would have definitely given some happiness to music lovers.

Watch or not?
If you ask me, we should definitely watch such films which are related to history, in fact this film should be watched with the whole family. 3 stars from me for the film ‘Kesari 2’.
