ITR Filing Extended: If you have not filed income tax return yet, then there is good news for you. Actually, the last date for ITR filing has been extended by the Income Tax Department. In such a situation, those filing delayed or revised returns have more days to file returns. The Income Tax Department had fixed the last date for ITR filing as 31 December 2024 but now its deadline has been extended for all taxpayers.
Last date of ITR filing extended
The last date for ITR filing by the Income Tax Department has been extended from 31 December 2024 to 15 January 2025. In such a situation, delayed / revised returns can be filed till 15 January 2025. The Income Tax Department has announced the extension of the last date for ITR filing from its official X account. Issuing a post, the department has informed that the last date for filing revised and delayed income tax returns for Indian resident individuals has been extended to January 15, 2025.

The Income Tax Department on Monday extended the last date for filing information for determining tax dues, waiver of interest and penalty under the Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme to January 31, 2024. According to the rules, the last date for this was earlier December 31, 2024 and the filing taxpayers had to pay 100 percent of the disputed tax demand. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has said in the circular that the last date for determining the amount payable under the Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme has been extended from December 31, 2024 to January 31, 2025.
