The Indian cricket team may face a big setback before the third test match against England. The team’s middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer may be out of the remaining three tests of the series. Iyer has stiffness in his back and pain in his groin. He has complained about this to the team management. The third test match of the series between India and England will be played in Rajkot from 15th February. The 5-match Test series is currently tied at 1-1.
According to the report of Indian Express, Shreyas Iyer complained of pain in the groin after playing more than 30 balls. He was having trouble playing forward defence. There is doubt about Shreyas playing in the remaining test matches of the series. After the second Test match (IND vs ENG) played in Visakhapatnam, the kits of all the players have been sent to Rajkot while Shreyas’s kit was sent to his home in Mumbai. The selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar can announce the Indian squad for the remaining three Test matches at any time.
According to sources, Shreyas Iyer will be sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for investigation. Now this batsman can be expected to recover till IPL. IPL will start next month i.e. at the end of March. Last year Shreyas Iyer had to undergo surgery. Before this, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are out of the Indian team due to injury.
According to sources, ‘Shreyas Iyer has informed the Indian team management and medical staff about stiffness in his back and pain in his groin. This is the first time he has made such a complaint after surgery. In such a situation, he has been advised rest for a few weeks. He will go to NCA.’ It is doubtful that Virat Kohli will play in the remaining Tests as well. Kohli had asked for rest from the first two Test matches.
