Even in the whole of India, GST collection has increased by up to 10 percent till January in this financial year, but Punjab has surpassed this growth of the country and has recorded an increase of 11.67 percent in GST collection till January. Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema gave this information on Sunday. This includes excise, VAT, CST and PSDT. Punjab has also achieved an increase of 15.33 percent in the revenue from excise alone.
Punjab included in top three states
According to Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, by making such a record increase in GST collection, Punjab has joined the top three states of the country, which have succeeded in increasing GST collection more than the national average. In this way, in the first nine months itself, Punjab has crossed the figure of 30 thousand crores of income from VAT, CST, GST, PSDT and excise duty. The total income has been 31,156.31 crores, which was 27,927.31 crores last year. He said that Punjab has also registered a growth of 21.31 percent in the revenue from excise i.e. alcohol. Harpal Singh Cheema said that this success of Punjab has been possible due to innovative planning.
Tax is increasing without harassing people
Harpal Singh Cheema claimed that Punjab has got this success in tax collection without harassing people. He said that by making a list of tax evaders, their ways of taking advantage of the loopholes of the system were watched. Then by working by making a plan, the success rate is increasing in the direction of preventing tax evasion. For this, different types of check mechanisms have also been developed.
