The race for nursery admission in Delhi will start from today. Forms will be available from today. The age for admission in nursery class should be less than four years till 31st March (admission year).

Delhi nursery admissions 2025-26: The race for nursery admission in private schools of Delhi for the academic session 2025-26 will start from today, 28 November. Application forms for admission in nursery, KG and first class will be available in schools from today. Parents will be able to apply in schools till 20 December. The first and second list of selected children will be released for admission in January 2025 next year. The last date for submitting application forms in the school is 20 December.

Private schools cannot charge more than Rs 25 as registration fee from parents for admission application. Purchase of prospectus will be optional for parents, that is, it will be the wish of the parents. Schools will have to upload the admission program on the school website and put it on the notice board.

The entire admission process will end in the month of March. The admission schedule for seats in Economically Backward Classes (EWS), Disadvantaged Classes (DG) and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) category has not been released yet.

These documents are necessary for admission

Ration card/smart card issued in the name of parents/guardian (which also contains the name of the child)

  • Domicile certificate of child or parents
  • Voter ID card of one of the parents
  • Electricity/telephone/water bill or passport in the name of child or parents
  • Aadhar card/UID card of one of the parents

25% seats for EWS
All private non-aided recognized schools will have to keep 25% seats reserved for EWS, DG and CWSN. For which the Directorate will issue a separate admission program. At the same time, the number of seats will not be less than the highest number of seats in the entry level classes during the last three years.

Seat information will be made public
Schools will have to declare the availability of seats for all entry level classes on the module of the Directorate’s website. Along with this, details will also have to be given on the school website and notice board.

Admission draw will be videographed
The admission draw will be organised with transparency in the presence of parents. For which the schools will inform at least two days in advance through website, e-mail and notice board. The admission draw will be videographed. The schools will have to keep the video safe. Before putting the slip for the draw in the box, it will have to be shown to the parents.

Two lists will be released for admission
Two lists of students selected for admission will be released. In which the first list will be released on January 17 and the second list will be released on February 3. Schools will have to provide information about the points within ten days based on the standards of the selected students. Schools will also solve the problems and questions related to the points issued for admission.

Schools will not be able to ask for donation

Schools will not be able to ask for donation/capitation fee from parents for admission. If any school does so, then punitive action will be taken against it. Also, it is not mandatory for parents to buy prospectus for admission.

There will be a monitoring cell in every district

A monitoring cell will be formed under the chairmanship of the District Deputy Director to keep an eye on the admission process. Its responsibility will be to upload the criteria for admission by the schools, to ensure the points allotted to the child for admission and admission. It will also resolve the complaints coming under the grievance redressal and monitoring system on the Directorate of Education’s website www.edudel.nic.in.

Parents and schools will not face any difficulty

Bharat Arora, President of the Action Committee of Private Schools Unaided Recognized Private School in Delhi, said that the Directorate has released the admission program at the right time. This will not cause any problem to the parents and school management.

Understand the admission program like this

  • Schools will have to upload the criteria on the Directorate’s website by November 25
  • Application forms for admission will be available in schools from November 28
  • Application forms can be submitted in schools till December 20
  • Information of children applying for admission will have to be uploaded on January 3
  • Points of children applying for admission will be uploaded by January 10
  • First list of selected children will be released on January 17 (along with waiting list)
  • Problems related to the list of parents will be resolved between January 18-27
  •  Second list of selected children will be released on February 3 (along with waiting list)
  •  Problems related to the list of parents will be resolved between February 5 and February 11
  •  If any other list has to be released on February 26
  •  Admission process will end on March 14.
