Bank Holiday: All banks will be closed tomorrow on Wednesday. According to RBI, banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on Wednesday but bank branches will remain open in all other states of the country. Banks will remain closed on Wednesday 18 December
Wednesday 18 December is the death anniversary of U Soso Tham in Meghalaya. U Soso Tham is known as the father of Khasi literature and culture. On his death anniversary, the Khasi community and literature lovers pay emotional tribute to him. Tham gave literary and cultural identity to the Khasi language. There is a public holiday on 18 December in Meghalaya. This is a state holiday, due to which all banks and government offices in Meghalaya will remain closed. However, it is limited to the state of Meghalaya only and is not a national holiday. Therefore, banks and offices will remain open in other states.
