Such people will no longer be able to sell their property. The corporation has made it mandatory to show property tax receipt for buying and selling. This decision was taken on 4 December 2024. The corporation hopes to increase revenue from this. Also, property tax evasion will also be curbed.

Ban on buying and selling of land in Patna
Patna Municipal Corporation has given a big decision for those who do not pay property tax. If you have not paid property tax, then now you will not be able to sell your property – house, house or institution. The corporation has written a letter to the prohibition and registration department asking to ensure that the property tax deposit receipt of Patna Municipal Corporation is compulsorily seen at the time of buying and selling of property. Registration will not be done without receipt. Municipal Commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar has given this order. The corporation hopes that with this step, property tax evasion will be reduced and revenue will increase.

New rules have now come into force for those buying and selling property in Patna. While buying or selling a flat, house, plot or any private property, you will have to show the receipt of property tax and garbage management fee. Many times people used to get the registry done without paying the tax. This put the burden of old dues on the new owner. Now this will not happen. Buyers will also get the facility of determination of new property tax and mutation at the time of registration. Patna Municipal Corporation wants everyone to follow the rules and pay tax on time.

Municipal corporation took action on not getting property tax
Under the Bihar Municipality Act 2007, all property owners are required to pay property tax on time. Be it a house, a building or an empty plot. If you do not do so, the corporation can take action against you. This includes sending notices, stopping corporation services, attachment of movable and immovable property and even seizing bank accounts. Therefore, it is better to pay your tax on time and avoid any hassle. Facility of online and offline payment
Patna Municipal Corporation has provided both online and offline facilities to make the payment of property tax easier. You can pay your tax through the corporation’s website from the comfort of your home. Apart from this, you can also go to the corporation’s main office or zonal office and deposit the tax. A special counter has also been set up near the Income Tax Golambar, where you can pay tax from 10 am to 5 pm.

The corporation team also collects tax by going to every ward. You can also pay tax through POS machine, QR code, Paytm, PhonePe, Google Pay and UPI. Also, you can assess your property tax yourself by filling the self-assessment form available on the corporation’s website.
