Holiday List 2024 : Holiday announced for central government employees, holiday order issued, Details Here

Holiday List 2024: For 2024, the Central Government has released the list of holidays that will be observed in central government offices. This list will be helpful for employees to plan their holidays.

Central Government administrative offices located outside Delhi/New Delhi are required to observe the following holidays compulsorily in addition to three holidays to be chosen from the 12 optional holidays shown below:

1. Republic Day
2. Independence Day
3. Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi
4. Buddha Purnima
5. Christmas Day
6. Dussehra (Vijayadashami)
7. Diwali (Deepawali)
8. Good Friday
9. Birthday of Guru Nanak
10. Eid ul FITR
11. EID ul Adha
12. Mahavir Jayanti
13. Muharram
14. Birthday of Prophet Mohammed (Id-e-Milad)

The optional holidays are as follows:

1. One additional day for Dussehra
2. Holi
3. Janmashtami (Vaishnava)
4. Ram Navami
5. Maha Shivaratri
6. Ganesh Chaturthi/Vinayak Chaturthi
7. Makar Sankranti
8. Rath Yatra
9. Onam
10. Pongal
11. Sri Panchami/Basant Panchami

12. Vishu / Vaisakhi / Vaishakhadi / Bohag Bihu / Mashadi Ugadi / Chaitra Shukla Di / Cheti Chand / Gudi Padwa / First Navratri / Nowruz / Chhath Puja / Karva Chauth.

National Holidays

The central government has declared three major national holidays for 2024, which will be mandatorily observed in all government offices. These are as follows:

Republic Day – 26 January 2024

Independence Day – 15 August 2024

Gandhi Jayanti – 2 October 2024

Gazetted Holidays

The list of gazetted holidays has also been released, which includes important festivals and occasions of various states and territories. The following are the gazetted holidays for 2024:

Holi – 25 March 2024

Dussehra – 13 October 2024

Diwali – 1 November 2024

Regional and State Special Holidays

The central government has also declared some state and territory specific holidays, which will be observed only in the respective territories. For example:
